HISTORY / BACKGROUND:
The exact history of the Model 649 is very unclear and disputed. Some sources indicate that the 649
was an Export / Commercial Version of the Model 630, other sources have it vice versa. A number of
sources have the 649 as being used by the USAF and being designated as the GAU-5A/A.
