HISTORY / BACKGROUND:
The IDF (Israeli Defense Forces) Menusar (Mekutz'rar) is not an official Colt product.
It was created by the IDF by taking a 603 M16A1 (many of them delivered during Operation Nickel Grass
during the Yom Kippur War) and cutting the 20" barrel to a length of 13".
Also some Colt 653's have been similarly reconfigured with a shorter barrel.
The modifications are performed at MSHA. (Merkaz Shikum veAhzaka)
As such there are many variations of stocks and individual small parts.
Most use a standard carbine 2-position stock.
All are stamped with an outline of a Star Of
David.

UNIQUE ACCESSORIES:
One of the things that make the Israeli Carbines unique are the accessories developed by the IDF.
HANDGUARD WRAPS:
The Israeli solder makes his own handguard wrap out of elastic.
SLINGS:
The IDF sling is designed to prevent noise
while moving and to allow easy carry when
off-duty or for reserve troops who are
required to carry their carbine.
MAGAZINE HOLDER:
When carrying a carbine in a populated area
during normal conditions IDF soldiers are
not allowed to have a magazine in their carbine.
They attach the magazine using either rubber
O-Rings or with a special holder pictured to the
right.
