Watching the Saturn occultation last night was awesome. Saturn disappeared while it was still daylight (5:26PM), but knowing where it was supposed to be made spotting it with the telescope easy. It slowly slipped behind the moon. It took less than a minute to disappear completely. Lorelei and I both took turns watching it disappear. I had been looking forward to last night for at least a month, and was surprised at how excited I became. With cloudy skies on Monday and Tuesday I had been worried that I'd miss it and have to wait until next time...unfortunately that is not until 2014 in North America. Since it was still daylight when Saturn disappeared it was too bright to photograph. Saturn reappeared on the other side of the moon after dark at 6:58PM. This time Nathaniel was able to see it. The picture I've attached was taken about 7:03PM last night from Houston. I did have to do some "cleaning" up with PhotoShop. Nathaniel has recently become my Astronomy partner. We usually stick to looking at Jupiter, Betelgeuse, Sirius and the moon, but this weekend he got his first look at Saturn. He loves looking through the telescope. Clear skies! Bruce
